The evils of potty training

So little man is a late bloomer in regard to the whole potty thing...I was somewhere in between the mentality that I didn't want to force the issue too hard, lest he not EVER want to use the potty, and sitting there counting the days until I could finally free myself of diapers and pull-ups.

Now, we've crested the summit, he's using the potty regularly, and enthusiastically. For the most part, considering his diminutive size, he aims like a champ, and he's been great so far with his underwear-only outings. No, I'm not saying I put him in a pair of underwear and some shoes and run out of the house...you know what I mean, right?? Right. Anyway...so here we are, slowly but surely mastering this potty thing...except for one...minor...detail; pooping. This kid will.not.poop. I don't understand what his issue is at this point. I know, I know, the pooping thing is the most difficult part with potty training, and from what I hear, boys are always more difficult than girls...but c'mon already!

I can't even tell you exactly HOW sick I am of rinsing out shitty underwear, shitty pants, shitty pajamas, etc. I'm just...tired of it. I've tried reasoning with this kid, I've tried taking away things he loves (some days I wish someone would take ME away), yelling at him, swatting his butt, guilting him, etc etc...nothing seems to work. His "schtick" seems to be holding in the poop until it all becomes impacted and massively painful for him to pass. Drives me nuts...but...I've tried taking his little self and sitting his butt on the potty when I see him holding it in, and told him he needs to stay there until he poops, but...nothing. ...and then all of a sudden, five minutes after I finally let him off the potty (after no less than twenty to thirty minutes of just sitting and staring at each other), there's a HUGE poop in his underwear. *headdesk*

Fellow parents with potty trained children; I applaud you for still having your hair, and some of your sanity. ...now...TELL ME YOUR SECRETS!
